Hi everyone :)

I'm a junior year student looking to transfer to NYU for spring semester and also switching majors, so it'll be essentially like starting over which I'm fine with. If someone can let me know of what they think of my chances, I'd appreciate it!

Applying to NYU CAS: Undecided
College: Ivy League School
GPA: 3.2 :/
EA: 3 clubs associated with my major, cultural club, peer advisor for underclassmen, also had a job
Essays - I thought both were solid
1 letter of recommendation from my faculty advisor who also taught me in 2 classes
Not submitting SAT/ACT
Am applying for financial aid

HS:
GPA: ~3.8+ unweighted/4.0+ weighted; 7 APs; a lot of EAs

3.2 from Penn should give you a good chance for NYU transfer, although it depends on your concentration at Penn too — 3.2 gpa at Wharton being a much surer “yes” at transfer than perhaps some others.

Keep in mind that NYU isn’t likely to give you much financial aid as a transfer, and if you search CC topics I’ve read that they’re not as generous with FA in general as many other colleges. Also, cnn.money site yesterday just posted an article on the “10 most expensive private universities”, and NYU made the list.

“Essentially starting over” at NYU after 2 1/2 years at Penn is gutsy! But it sounds like you’re pretty confident in your plan, so if it’s really what you want then go for it…as long as it doesn’t put you deeply in debt!

Thanks for your advice^ I know 3.2 isn’t ideal because most people are applying with a higher GPA, but it was a very stressful 2 years! I am hoping the name of the university will help me out a bit, but only can wait and see (Also I’m not a Whartonite :p)

It is really gutsy… there are a lot of factors going into this decision, but it’s the best decision for me right now. I do know that FA at NYU is tough, but I’m hoping they can understand my situation. If I do accepted, I know they offer scholarships as well to transfers, but no idea what will happen at this point. Just a waiting game.
