Hey I didn't get much luck on the nyu forum so here it goes.

Hello, i want to major in Media, Culture, and Communication (MCC) (Steinhardt). I will be attending a community college in california and hopefully transfer in as a junior.

I have a few questions:

Is MCC selective for transfers? Would a 3.8-4.0 have an easier time getting in? (gpa from cc)

Will going to a community college hurt me? Will going to a cc in california hurt me evenmore?

What are some impressive ECs to hopefully get into MCC?

Steinhardt is, I suppose, less selective by a marginal amount. GPA wise that is good enough. Most college average of an undergraduate in high school is 3.6 to 3.9, so CC GPA is good enough. Not necessarily easier, but keep in mind it’s not just GPA their looking at anymore.

Going to a CC won’t hurt you at all. Good way to save money. And no, there’s no NYU preference on state CCs. If you don’t mind me asking which CC you in right now.?

Best I can think of without you being so cookie cutter would be internships. Look into radio stations, or marketing internships. Some might not pay you, but experience does a great deal.
