hey, i just registered for cc, but have been reading posts for a while. i’m really excited to have found such a great group of mt enthusiests. but anyway, on to the point.
i’ve read a lot of discusion about ocu, which is great because i’m considering transferring there, along with perhaps fsu and other schools. i’m currently an mt major at a small school in Ma with a 2 year mt program, and have a year of liberal arts education at another school before that. after next year i’ll be getting my associates in mt, and this fall i’ll be applying and auditioning for schools to complete my training with a bachelors.
when everything is added up, i’ll have been in school for 3 years, with an associates in mt. is this going to make an acceptance into the mt program at ocu or fsu a big inprobibility?
i’m posting in hopes that someone might have good insider info on these schools (specifically ocu) about transfers etc.
thanks, i look forward to hearing from everyone!

Hi..glad you're considering Oklahoma City University. You've made a good choice! And with your previous record, you certainly can be considered for acceptance into the MT program.

I would recommend you contact Mary Mowry, OCU Bass School of Music student Services Coordinator. She'll be happy to tell you what will transfer. Make sure you also check out the website at www.okcu.edu/music. Click "auditions" on the right for the new audition requirements.

If you are transfering from a two year university, we also offer a scholarship for those in the Phi Theta Kappa academic society.

For general info on transfering to the university, you can contact Sarah Morgan, OCU Transfer Counselor at 405-521-5050.

If you have questions about the musical theater program, I'm a student so feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. i pm-ed you to say the same, but i figure we might as well converse back and forth up here in the thread, so others can read it and maybe get something useful out of it.

while this post is up, anyone with transfer related questions might as well post here too. i have more myself..

Hi mtpolk,

I don't have insider info by any means, but I'll be transferring as an MT major to OCU in the fall. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have (you can find an e-mail form in my profile). (Also, ocuMTinfo is a great source of information! :-) )

Best of luck!
