transfer to penn and georgia tech

does anyone know if these schools prefer sophomore transfers? i am a freshman in the honors program at clemson university looking to transfer as a mechanical engineering major.

"stats":
4.0 gpa after taking 15 credits my first semester
honors college
720m/660v sat
visual art supplement
6/380 rank in high school class
AP score: bc calc 5, us hist 5, engl lit 4, drawing portfolio 4, gov 4, chem 4

Fall Courses:
Intro to Engineering (with lab) -- A
Multivariable Calculus (honors) -- A
Physics 1 -- A
Advanced Drawing -- A
Survey of Art and Architectural History (honors) -- A

Spring Courses:
Engineering Mechanics (with lab)
Physics 2
Differential Equations
Contemporary Literature
Intermediate Drawing

my courses may seem kind of random because at clemson i took credit for english 1 and 2, chem 1 and 2, calc 1 and 2, drawing 1, and a few social sciences. therefore i took some courses to fulfill general education requirement and took art for fun.

I was accepted to ga tech last year, can they re activate my application? i tried calling their office but i suppose it's closed for holidays. also, it seems kind of weird that georgia tech's transfer ap is 2 pages. am i missing something?

thanks in advance!

with ur strong HS record you have a decent shot, though the lack of EC's and the likelihood that your recs wont be all that great since ur in ur first semester could hurt

thanks for the input. my college EC's are lacking, but i have a few high school ones. also, for rec's i am having one from my art professor (first name basis here...) and my calculus teacher from high school. is anyone else getting a high school teacher to provide a rec?

dunno about nyu, but for ivies like cornell , etc i would recommend 1300+ at least

ignore prev. post wrong thread

I think you have an excellent shot at GT, especially with the math and physics credits. Those As also dont hurt! Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

thanks travism416. what do you think about my chances for penn?

I think you have a shot for Penn, but it is more competitive than Tech, so i cant say for sure that you would get in. My advice is to contact an admissions officer at Penn and make best friends w/him or her; they can help you out more than you realize.
