Hi All,
I'm new to this forum. I'm a high school student and I want to become a pharmacy in the future. I have some questions that I want to ask.
1. I heard many people said that Pre-Pharmacy Program is similar to the undergraduate program at other school such as UC Berkeley, etc. Is it true?
2. Does University of California- San Francisco have the Pre-Pharmacy Program?
3. If it does, Am I allowed to transfer directly from high school to UCSF to attend in the Pre-Pharmacy Program and continue on to the graduate program in this school?
4. Lastly, Is UCSF a private or public school?

Thanks so much!

Getting into a pharmD program generally requires taking specific pre-requisite courses. Every school is a bit different, so you would have to go to their specific websites to figure out what each school’s requirements are. You can major in whatever you want, you just have to complete the pre-req courses. An example of pre-requisite coursework (the values in parenthesis are minumum number of credits, I believe):

Google, but you take the pre-reqs first then apply to the pharmD program. Generally speaking, you can take pre-reqs at any college and then apply to any pharmD program.

I high school they teach you that Google and online resources generally aren’t reputable, but you can find out pretty much anything you need to know about pharmacy school with a simple Google search. I’m not saying this to be rude, just so that you have a resource to turn to since I don’t have time to research and fully answer your questions.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions about pharmacy :)

UCSF is a graduate school only, there are no undergraduate programs or degrees, therefore there is no pre-pharmacy program. Only students that already have a BA/BS can be admitted to the PharmD program. UCSF is a public school.
