Anybody submit his or her transfer application to Reed? I have and every time I think about my feet go so cold. I find the transfer process so agonizing because it is even less cut and dry than from high school. Most admission material is directed towards teens making things difficult to gauge.

Reed is my first choice school. I am a research assistant at a laboratory, so I'm hoping I can talk my way into Reed as well as I did into my job without having the typical credentials. Although I did do pretty well on the SAT so I'm hoping that will express that I can buckle down to study when need be.

Yep I submitted mine…looking to transfer from a CA community college into the International and Comparative Policy Studies major…the wait is ever so-slightly agonizing.

Hi, I submitted my transfer application too. I am an older returning student, after seven years away from school. Yes, the wait is maddening.

What is drawing you to Reed?

Hi, yeah I know how you guys feel…I’m an international student hoping to transfer from a CC in Hawaii…I have like almost zero percent chance…but Reed is SOOO cool…the wait is agonizing…

Hi again, everybody!

I am drawn to Reed because it is super hard, super liberal, super small and super Portland. Also, there are no sports. I love the other two schools I’m applying to as well, but Reed is it.

Can you believe we’ve almost made it to May? My nerves are really getting worse as the days go by. I heard sometimes in late April people get letters back so for the next 3 weeks I plan to be on edge.

Initially I tried to submit as ED/RD but I had too many credits.

drdalek, where are you transferring from?

It’s exciting to be so close to knowing, whether acceptance or rejection. While being this close puts me more on edge, it is also a relief. The answer is finally within reach.

Do you have a major?

Best of luck to you!

Got a neat, brief email from admissions yesterday, with a link to a video informing me of my acceptance! While I was applying, I couldn’t find many stats on Reed to see what type of applicant they accept. As far as I know, stats may be totally useless to post here for future applicants to see, as I don’t entirely know their admissions process. Regardless, here they are:

GPA: 4.0 coming from a CA CC, part of an Honors Program
Major: Applied for ICPS (don’t know if accepted to this major or to the college in general, still haven’t received the official envelope)
Extracurriculars: student government, on-campus committees, animal shelter volunteer, tutor, Mock Trial (in high school)
Letters of Rec: sent 3, probably 2/3 great, 1 good
Essays: 8.5/10
Interview: Seemed so horrible to me that I thought I had ruined my chances…Maybe so, but all I have is a subjective opinion.
Other: Absurdly excited…then confused as to how I will decide what school to go to out of those I have been accepted into (and those from which I am still waiting to hear)…

Has anyone else heard back yet?

Congratulations from a freshman admit! Looking forward to see you this fall :D

Denied! They told me to do a full year of college work and they’d definitely accept me but I just decided to go with another school (UPS in Tacoma), instead. I don’t want to go to community college anymore. Good luck to everybody else!
