Transfer to rice university

Hello all,
I am a current freshman at the university of texas at arlington looking to transfer to rice university. I am a premed and have done fairly well, mostly honors classes. I have kept up with a 3.9 gpa and have shadowed a general, neuro and plastic surgeon for over 60 hours and am involved in campus life and about 5 clubs. I plan to transfer after my sophomore year. My only problem is my high school grades, my first two years I barely managed a 2.5 gpa but ended with a 3.15 gpa overall and a 1400 sat and a 32 act. I rarely did any extracurriculars, only one political internship. I plan on trying to try to apply to transfer after my sophomore year. so I guess my overall question is, is there any chance of me actually transferring and are there any other things I can do to increase my chances of getting in?
thank you

I would focus on grades first, and medical shadowing second. I would be careful not to put too much effort into your clubs.

Focusing on doing well in your tough premed classes has two advantages. First of all it will help improve your chances of transferring. Showing that you can do well in university in premed classes will make the point that your first two years of high school are behind you. Secondly, it will improve your chances of getting into medical school whether you transfer or not.

It looks like you are doing well at UT Arlington. Keep up the good work!
