...okay, and that he has provided some sort of evidence does (almost) nothing.

It just gets old when you disagree with anything somebody says and come up with the same old statement:

And it gets old when people make bold claims like...

Some do not have the time to go out and do research on everything

Not being able to do all the research does not relieve one of the duty to support the claims one makes.

I don't care if he provided some evidence for a claim. Don't make the claim if you cannot fully support it, and if you want to make the claim without such support, then include the caveat that it is just your own opinion and that it is poorly supported.

I'm surprised you haven't said "duh" to this sort of stuff. It seems trivially true that you are supposed to support your claims, and that practical issues do not imply looser standards of truth. In fact, I am pretty shocked that I even need to say this.

And by the way, saying that a claim is poorly supported is an implicit appeal for more evidence. I've been implicitly asking for more evidence in this thread, and gomestar has adduced little.

Nspeds, if I picked apart every statement you made like you often do to others here, you'd find it difficult to post opinion as well. I think it's safe to say most people here realize that we are all just college students with opinions and that everything should be taken with a grain of salt. It's one thing to disagree with someone's opinion and provide evidence to the contrary; it's another to require proof for anything said.

Maybe we could split off a thread into a "grade inflation at ivies." Or maybe I should just post into the "Transfer out of ivies thread." Anyway, I'd just appreciate it if anybody had anymore advice. Thanks in advance!

My apologies for starting the digression. The tangent ends here.

brand_182: I feel like if my HS stats/tests were that great, they would have let me in to begin with, which is why I am afraid of applying early now. But you seem to think differently, could you maybe expand on that?

your test scores are extremely high. Applying now will make them still important in the process: you may have earned a 3.5 in high school, but the fact that you've managed a 3.9 at an ivy, in my mind, will put to rest any doubts they may have about your ability in the classroom. Apply now - you've nothing to lose but the app fee and can always try again.
