Transfer to Stanford

Not a whole lot of people at chance forum is good at transfering stuff so here it goes.

first year college student at De Anza college

UC transferable college GPA = 4.0

Engineering sci
Engineering Physics
Calculus C
Honors English writing 1A

High school GPA: 3.5

AP Cal BC: 5
AP Cal BC sub: 5
AP Environmental Science: 5
AP Biology: 5
AP physics B: 5
AP chem: 4
AP US gov: 4
AP US history: 3

SATI : 1500 (verbal 700, math 800)
SATII: 770, 630 (math, Ewrt)

special circumstance:

late comer (came to US 4 years ago)
on going research project with stanford professors
10 page reference and recommendation from one graduate school professor

Stanford takes 10 to 20 student from CC each year, out of 300 applicants.

Don't bother applying

Don't listen to mosharma134, he is lying.

In this post he said he has a 3.71 and are still applying for entrance for Fall 05.

Then he replied to someone in this post telling them not to apply to MIT because he had a 4.0 as well and got rejected.

He's just trying to discourage people from applying to better his chances of getting in. Too bad for him the fact that he has to do something underhanded as that just shows poor of a student and lacking in character he is.

ur SAT and GPA are excellent (i dont know what a "transferrable college GPA" vs an actual GPA is though). you certainly are in the range for stanford. take a shot.

and ignore mosharma

As a reply to Area69: you should definitely apply.

I am also applying to Stanford and I have a similar (actually a bit lower) grades and scores than you and from everything I have read I feel I have a reasonable chance at admission.

You are in a much better position than I am and it would be a shame if you didn't apply.

Area69, you have a good shot at getting into Stanford. I go to DA too, and I'm afraid you just destroyed all chances for me to get in. I'm a first-year transfer as well.

How'd your essay turn out?

Well, my current plan is to round up a bunch of ppl who applied to Stanford from DA and talk about the situation.

maybe we can meet sometime, I may even know you.

my essay was done well, preped by Professor John Lovas.

typically there are about 2 to 3 (sometimes one) student get into Stanford from DA each year (transfer only, highschool students excluded)

However, Professor Lovas did warn me about a situation that maybe bad for us: Stanford prefer transfer student with world experiences, and i am talking about businessman or 30 year old single mother going back to school kind of world experience.

transferable college GPA and real GPA are the same in my case.

I am area69, and i got banned once from saying the stuff the first replier said.

now i feel really sorry about it.

well actually, you probably CAN'T pervent someone from applying some school unless you shoot him.

in fact, I really refrain myself from applying to any school above Stanford. it's pretty much useless because i had a chance to see their students credential. their credentials are built up by decades of work and cannot be surpassed by us in just two or three years

Blackdream, I'm willing to get together and talk about our apps, PM me.
