Transfer to Stern

<p>I'm currently a freshman at Cornell and I really want to transfer to Stern next year. </p>

<p>Current School: Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration
GPA: Don't know yet... Won't be that great though.. </p>

<p>Courses I took/will take:</p>

<p>Introduction to Hotel/Food Operations
Financial Accounting (One of the requirements for junior transfers)
Business Computing
Freshman Writing Seminar
This one credit entrepreneurship lecture class.</p>

<p>Will take in spring:
Organizational behavior
Management Communication
Microeconomics for hospitality industry
Calculus 1 (one of the requirements for sophomore transfer)
Introductory Macroeconomics (If i do not take it over the winter)
Intermediate Microeconomics (If i do take macroeconomics over the winter) </p>

<p>Extracurriculars: (will get more involved during spring)

Macro and Micro Economics, Stastics, French, English (Literature, Language), Physics B.</p>

<p>Experience:
-Internship at a restaurant.
-Worked in a bakery/cafe
-Worked in another restaurant.</p>

-I founded Culinary Club at my school. - President
-National Honor Society
-French Honor Society and French Club- Secretary
-Debate Team- Judge
-Peer Leadership
-Religious Christian Group</p>

<p>Community Service:
-mission trip to El Salvador, volunteered at festivals, events, center for mentally handicapped, tutored, served at events.</p>

<p>You said you don’t know your college GPA yet, “but it won’t be that great”. Then I can assure you, you won’t get in. </p>

<p>While your SAT scores are good, your high school GPA is low. </p>

<p>Stern will be looking for around a 3.7+ from high school and something similar from college.</p>

<p>I’m no expert on NYU, but I can tell you Stern is hard to get into as a high school applicant, and it is even HARDER to get in through trasnfers. However, the fact that you go to Cornell may help you at least a little, considering it IS Cornell…</p>

<p>Its weird, I know a few ppl that picked cornell over stern, and some stern over cornell. You have good scores + come from a good school so you should have at least a decent shot, but like someone mentioned, harder as a transfer than coming out of high school. Just wondering, why don’t you like cornell/are you in the AEM major?</p>
