Chance me for Stony Brook University (SUNY) as a transfer.
High school GPA, like 2.73 unweighted, top 40%....
Trust me, I know how awful that is.
Sat I: 2250 (770CR/740M/740W)
Sat II: 700 Bio E, 710 World History, 730 Literature
I took two classes at Stony Brook one summer during high school and got one A, one B. One of my rec letters is from my prof there (the class I got an A in).
I have 6 As from a community college in south Jersey.
I am now enrolled in 5 courses at Suffolk County CC. I sent in that midterm report form with all As.
Major: Philosophy, if that matters.

I am not sure I feel comfortable posting my essays, but if it is necessary, I will.

Oh, and ECs:
High School–
Interact Club (community service), President
School Council, Co-President
College–
Fall '10
Fine Arts Club, Student Government Representative
Spring '11
Women’s Club
Philosophy Club, Vice President

There are others, but I think these are most important.

Well to me what this shows is that your intelligent, just not very responsable in your classes. Nevertheless, i think your test scores will show the better side of you and i think you’ll have a good chance. Keep working hard to keep up your GPA, don’t let it slip and you should be fine.

How important are the essays to Stony Brook admissions, and does your major make any difference? I know many attend SBU for the sciences, so would being a philosophy major hurt me?
