Hey CC forums,

I'm an 18 year old sophomore at a very small school (<$100M endowment). I'm currently double majoring in Biochemistry and Physics. I was pressured to going to this small school because of economic costs, familial pressure (graduated HS when I was 17, didn't have too much of a choice), and other personal factors. However, now I'm in a better situation that I can transfer. I really want to go to, because of connections, intermediate prestige, and research opportunities..to Stony Brook University in NY. I got exempt from Biology I and II, Chemistry I and II, and Calculus I and II (I decided to take Physics I and II though on my campus)...and here are some stats and general relevant courses that I perceived to be my most difficult.

GPA: 4.0/4.0

Biology/Biochemistry courses:

Organic Chemistry I and II- A's
Physics I and II- A's
Modern Physics- Took over summer I, made an A
Calculus III, Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations A
Topology (need a 4000 level math elective at my institution) A

Stuff that I was going to put on a resume:

I can code in FORTRAN, C, C++, and Haskell.

My school has extremely limited research opportunities (only research I got to do was during summer II at an REU at Brookhaven National Lab).

A big reason I want to transfer to Stony Brook is a ratio of manageable tuition, with the connections I have for research, and enough prestige.

I want to get a PhD in Biophysics or Biochemistry from a dream school like Harvard, Stanford, CalTech, etc.

Should I do it? and how hard is it to get in off a transfer? Anyone knows/heard anything about SUNY Stony Brook?
