Transfer to Texas A&M?

I am a current second year petroleum engineering student at the University of Houston, I applied to A&M but did not get into their engineering program but I did get accepted as a health major. Is it worth it to go there and work for a semester or two to try to internally transfer into their petroleum engineering program? I know that A&M is close to, if not the top petro program in the country and it would require a very strong gpa to get in but I don't see myself going there and not making the cut. I just wonder if it is worth going and wasting a year to retake classes and show that I am a worthy candidate as opposed to just finishing out my degree at UofH. Do the job prospects as an A&M grad look that much better? Any feedback would be wonderful, especially from someone who is in the engineering field, thanks in advance!

Your question is more about the schools and job prospects than transferring per se, and you want input from members familiar with engineering, so also post your question on the Engineering Majors forum.
