Transfer to UC/CSU with only a few prereqs done?

I was originally a pre-nursing major at a CC but have now changed my mind to pursue biology. The problem is I only have one of the pre reqs done (statistics) for the biology major that is required at most CSUs and UCs. I am going to spend another year at CC and am going to take Gen Chem 1&2 and Bio 1&2. That leaves me with having to take Ochem 1&2, Physics 1&2, and Calc 1&2 at the university. Will I be accepted into UCs and CSUs with only the gen chem and bio series completed prior to transfer?

I know that some UCs require Ochem to be completed prior to transfer but other UCs like UCSB only require the gen chem and bio series to be completed while the other courses like Ochem, Calc, and Physics are listed as strongly recommended.

My GPA is a 3.87

I appreciate any input!

CSUs are more lenient on prereqs in general because the norm for CSU transfers is to stay longer than two years while many UCs have strict limits on how long students can attend.

You have lovely GPA as it stands and you will be able to mention your career path switch in the personal statements on the UC application. If you continue to perform well in the fall, then you should receive quite a few admissions offers in the spring.
