Transfer to UC question...

This is a simple question and I cannot believe I do not know this. But, does anyone know if the G.P.A. you earned at the California community colleges transfers OVER to the UC when we get there?....OR....do we start brand new on a clean slate? I have been hearing different things from friends and I was wondering if I could get more input on the issue. I do HOPE that our hard earned G.P.A. does transfer over to the UC when we get there. It would suck if we had to start our G.P.A. all over at the campus taking upon UPPER-DIVISION course work...which means if we screw up our first year there...our G.P.A. will not be so pleasant.

If anyone could respond back with some helpful information, I would most appreciate it. Thank You.

you start brand new..I am pretty sure.

i rather start over...givin me a chance to get 4.0...hehe i wish

YES its true. JC>>UC transfer students have thier gpa reset.

bwhahaha

yeah thats really sucks. Hopefully when i transfer i'll start w/ upper devision Bio classes which are beyond brutal. My gpa for first quarter might be 2.0 or something

I kinda c why some say don't finish all ur general ed and lower devision, but u can't really transfer w/ out completing it unless u're doing a different major. But then how do u switch. UGH.

lol who says that? and why do they tell you to do such a thing?

it also sucks though because junior classes are much harder...

Masterod, think..... General ED and lower devision classes are easier than Upper devision especially for a major like Bio. If u do some of those along with upper devision, ur "new" GPA will be higher. Friends have told me that.

I guess the majority of the people are saying that once you transfer to the UC...your G.P.A. does start all over. I'm just worried about the transition from a California community college course work intensity to a UC Upper-Division course work intensity. I guess we all just have to work REALLY hard once we get to the UC as transfers. Not that I plan on being lazy when I get there, because I want to get the highest grades possible, but just the fact knowing that your G.P.A. is on the line is a bit appalling. I guess we'll just see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for the input! And if anyone has additional info...please feel free to comment some more. Thanks again.

You will have a separate GPA for the cc and the UC, but grad schools will be looking at both.
