Transfer to UCB question

Hi all,

From: UCI Computer science and engineering
GPA: 3.75
Sophmore in fall 2008/2009
To: UCB and UCLA junior year fall 2009

my question is: if i am planning on switching my major to math eventually, should i apply for that major? would it be 'easier' for me to get in as a math major or a computer science (or any other cs related majors) applicant?

Also: is the math department in the school of letters and sciences? does this mean i have to fulfill the UC Reciprocity Agreement? (i have not taken many breadth courses in my freshman year, so i will have to finish all of them in the next 2 quarters. )

Any other tips and suggestions much appreciated. also... will someone chance me? what else do i need to provide you with..

thanks all!

UCLA math has a high transfer rate. not many people want to major in math.

So is math part of the school of letters and sciences?

Yeah, it's in the school of L&S. And I wonder why more people don't major in math because it can lead to an extremely rewarding career...

As a transfer, you should definitely apply for the major you hope to pursue.

Math isn't that bad to get into for Cal. CS however is much harder.

Thanks all for the responses. But mobilemayhem, how do you know that math is less competitive than CS?
