I'm a freshman at UT-Austin and was wondering what the chances were for transferring to the University of Chicago.

I am a chemistry major. My main reason for transferring is that the academic climate at UT is not quite what I am looking for, but I do have a lot of fun and would not mind staying there. Presently, I have a 3.8 GPA, and am in honors courses. I will be pursuing chemistry research next semester. In high school, i had a 3.4 GPA and was in the 33% of my class (a competitive school). My SAT was 1480 and my SAT2's were stellar (800/770/680). Will they care about my high school rank even after a successful year of college? I would be applying for fall of 2006.
Again, is it worth a shot (and writing a bunch of essays)?
My friend goes to UofC and loves it. He also told me that most of his classes had around 20-30 ppl in them which is amazing compared to my 'small' honors classes of 50-100 at UT.
