Is it hard to transfer to uchicago next year if i got rejected this year as a first year applicant? Its probably cuz of my 29 ACT. Do I still have chance for transfer? Thank you.
If you did not get in this year, you should not expect your chances to be much better next year.
@happymomof1 yeah I’m expecting the higher chance, I just hope there’s still chance that I can get in.
@happymomof1 NOT expecting higher chance
If the only thing wrong with your profile wat the ACT score, and UChicago is realistic based on the experience of other students from your high school, then think about taking a gap year, raising that score, and applying again.
Otherwise, choose from your remaining affordable options, and focus on doing well there. If you still want to apply as a transfer, go ahead and take that chance. But please do your best to be happy wherever it is you are studying, as the most likely scenario would be that your transfer application will be rejected. It would be awful if you spend your college years just thinking that you’d rather be somewhere else.
@happymomof1 I don’t really wanna take a gap year, so I think I’m going to a state school and apply tranfer next year, that might be hard. Thank you for your comment.
It is more difficult to be a transfer than regular first year admits in Uchicago. The % of admits in transfer is much lower than the current first year admit rate of 7% because Uchicago usually accepts less than 50 transfers in their past. Do not expect the number is higher in the future years.
If you are waitlisted, it is MUCH easier if they gave you a gap year option than transfer for sure.
@artloversplus yeah but I got deferred then rejected, so i can only try transfer next year.
