I am an international students in my senior year and I just got rejected by UCLA but admitted to UCSD.As UCLA has always been my dream school, I am considering transferring to UCLA, like during year 2/3. Should I go to the Community Colleges like Foothill/ De Anza or I should go to UCSD , and then transfer to UCLA? Will there be a bigger chance if I go to UCSD instead of the CC?
Thanks a lot!!

UCLA gives priority admissions to community colleges AND other UC campuses; however, if you choose to go to a community college, some of them may offer you the opportunity to take an honors program (usually 15 or so units of honors classes). Once you have that completed, you are TAP certified and TAP students get accepted 80% of the time.

This only applies to the College of Letters and Science, so your major really counts. Make sure you research community colleges with the TAP program, you can really save yourself a lot of money by going to community college

If I recall correctly, priority is given to Community College students before other UC campuses, because where else do Community College kids go? UC students already got a UC to call their own.

I would not advise attending a four-year school with the intention of transferring to another four-year school.

That said, UCSD is a great school in its own right, and you should strongly consider sticking it out there.

Thanks everyone .
but will companies in US like to separate out graduates who are from CC then Uni and those are in the 4-year college since freshmen when considering the employment.Cause in Hong Kong, companies will consider those who went straight into Uni from high school before those who have to attend CC or get an associate degree before UNI, and I don’t want to have such disadvantage.Sorry if my question sounds confusing.

Your question is very clear, but it is not one that I can really answer. I don’t think that there is that great of a stigma here in the United States. I haven’t heard any bad stories about transfer students, but maybe someone else has more experience with that.

Companies don’t care whether you started at a 4 year or at a CC. It does not affect jobs at all. Your diploma will say UCLA (or whatever college you end up at). It won’t have any mention of CC on it.

UCs give priority to transfers from CC. If you want to go to UCLA that badly, go to CC. However, I would recommend that you just go to UCSD. It’s a great school and is highly respected, especially in California. Is there a reason you don’t want to go there?

Thanks a lot!
@alwaysleah It’s that I don’t know much abt UCSD and I don’t know if I would like it or not.
