That could work..I think there's a larger gap betwen summer and fall though (I think?)

I like karma's plan. I am definitely taking two classes this summer at SMC. And will also take an online class. I will take 20 units fall and spring, and also take another online class. Then the next summer I will take another 2 classes. And I checked on the UCI website and they said it is OKAY to take classes the summer preceding your admission to the campus to complete credit requirements. I also have 2 AP credits. AP US AND AP GOVT. I dont know how many credits those give, but it should be enough right?

i'm transferring in one year. got into riverside (even with only 59 units) waiting for ucla, berkeley, santa barbara. it is probable that i will get rejected at sb and cal, but accepted at ucla (cuz i did tap, 4.0, and an essay that convinces the whoever reads it that i'm superior in intellectual greatness)

this is what i did:

5 ap's in high school. got three 5's, two 3's

took 15 units in fall (4.0)

taking 24 (used to be 23) units this semestre

finished tap, finished majo requirements for alternate major

finished igetc.

right now, i'm taking 24 units of class and i am so careless and spend VERY little time with school work and yet i still have all A's and B's. this is amazing. all my classes are lenient.

in ur essay, show ur determination to outrank all intellects in history and to style urself as LORD OF _____(ur major or interest). this will be the creme of ur victory..

just because u are transferring in one year does not exempt u from the requirements. u MUST complete units, igetc, maj. requirements, etc. just like every body else. lower uc's may waive or gloss over a deficinecy, but the major uc's are probably unrelenting. i don't think they even adhere to the rules of eligibility. MUST MAKE UR TRANSCRIPT STRONG

if ur major is impacted, ur likely to stay 2 years or even 3 to get into some of the better schools.

the only UC I want to go to or will be happy to go to is UC Irvine. I dont htink i can write a GREAT essay and I do have 2 ap's both 3's. And I will be taking two online classes with summer classes too to cover the rest.

subzerozman, you should read some other threads!! i am not sure if it's on the board... but here goes.. sorry if i'm repeating myself, but i am a freshman transferring as a junior-senior. this is how i did it.

top HS in CA/nation >> CCSF

business/economics major & chinese language minor

6 ap's, although i only used 2
summer 7 units
fall 27 units
spring 27 units
3 jobs/internships
unique volunteer service & stellar extracurriculars

yes, i have a life, i eat, i poo, i sleep, i party hahaha

applied to: ucla biz/econ, ucb haas, harvard, usc

ucla invited me to apply for regents and alumni scholarships
ucb invited me to apply for alumni scholarship

i have not received any admission decisions from any schools yet.

edit: uci is probably feasible for you. make sure you finish all ge's and prereq's for your major. this is a must for most colleges. privates are more lenient on prereq's, but they usually require at least 30 units and they look at your HS transcript no matter what. good luck!!

i can definitely do it. but i was also wondering, if i went to UC Riverside, could i transfer in one semester? or one year there too? cuz ive heard ppl have done it.

Don't bother with the immediate transfer. It really depends on what you want to study. If you want to get an engineering or Architecture degree - Cal poly pomona is MUCH more respected in industry than anyone on this forum realizes, and you will not be disappointed with the results of obtaining the degree itself. That being said, if you want a very active social environment, or another major, than just go to a CC for two years and transfer. As unfortunate as it is, if you didn't get into the school of your choice right off the bat, a graduation in less than 4 years is unlikely.

i dont want to graduate in less then 4 years. i just want to get into UCI in 1 year after community college.

yeah, that's graduating in 3 years

you can't transfer after 1 year at cc and be in sophmore standing

i really don't like the experience of transferring in one year. i had appointments with the counselor ALOT. although the work load isn't that difficult, i just didn't like the feeling of uncertainty: i had NO IDEA how the uc's viewed those who transfered in one year with the aid of ap credit

lol CCC counselors are dumb :P

calm down. I was thinking about the same thing when I just graduated from high school.
I personally think it is impossible to transfer within one yr. You need to have 60 units by the time you transfer. And I think UCs like to see 45+ units when you apply. Did you say you have two Aps? Do you know one Ap test only brings you 2.5--3 college units? (My Ap calc brought me only 2 units) So I just assume your Ap exams worth 5 units. And you need to complete 40 units ine one semester. Maybe you want to take 15 units during summer.(If you can handle it. It's a lot of work though and the classes will probably conflict with each other) So for the fall semester you need to complete 25 units.
If you can do all those things above and still get a 3.9-4.0 GPA, you can transfer within one year.
I mean, comon, if you can do that, you must a superman. Why does a superman even bother transfering to UCI.

Seriously, I stayed in a CC for 2 years. And I really love my school. I visited UCB last year and it wasn't any better than my college. CCs have nice and small classes. And the people who grades your tests and assignments are your instructors. You can learn a lot in a CC if you want to.
Calm down. I am sure you can go to a really good college after two years.
