Univ. of the Pacific has a dental program that i want to get involved in. I will most likely go to a jc close to home and try to transfer out. If i shoot for a 4.0 and do a lot of ecs and stuff would i have a good chance?

also does anyone know anything about UOP's dental program?

UOP is not that hard to get into.
I would say you would be safe with a 3.4 and EC's.
Perhaps the other programs, but I thought it was rather difficult to get admitted into PharmD or Dentistry? I think I remember the transfer rate being fairly low...

...also, how would the transfer work? At least for PharmD, I remember it being composed of accellerated 2+3, 3+3, and 4+3 programs; coming from a JC, where in the program would they admit you?

cccbound-
thats what i am wondering. i dont want to go straight to the univ. but i was hoping that i could transfer and finish my undergrad stuff there so then i would have a good chance in entering UOP's dental school.

am i on the right path...or can i not do that???

I can't seem to find the numbers for Dentistry, but here are links that might help. I'd be interested in seeing them as well, if you happen to find it:

thanks a bunch cccbound. i emailed the admissions office asking about the transfer question. when and if i get a reply i will def post it on here.

"As only first time freshman are eligible for consideration for our
pre-dental program, you would not be able to apply as a transfer
studentto the pre-dental program. However, you would be able to apply as a transfer student to our biology program and then later, to our dental school in San Francisco. (Currently, to be a successful applicant to biology as a transfer, you should maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher at the college you are attending, complete at least 30 semester or 45 quarter units and complete either two semesters or three quarters of biology for science majors).
Although Pacific students are not guranteed to our dental school, the dental school does give priority consideration for interviews to students who are graduates of Pacific."
