Transfer to USC from the East

Help me you guys.

I posted this in the USC thread but got no response.

I want to transfer from Carnegie Mellon to USC.
My compelling reason is the emergence of my love for journalism.
I originally came to Mellon for their creative writing program, but I am
not thrilled with that anymore and they don't have journalism here.

I will have around a 3.85 gpa from here and have actively been involved in the
university newspaper. I want to apply to Annenberg.

Do I have a shot?
Does coming from the east help me?

Additionally, my girlfriend wants to transfer. She would go undecided or arts and sciences but has a compelling reason for transfer. She is actively involved in greek life and multiple charity fundraisers.

She goes to University of Pittsburgh and will have around a 3.5 gpa.

Does she have a chance?

We both have less than 30 units (we will be applying as sophmores)

We both had decent gpas in high school (around 4.0 weighted).
My SAT score was a 1320 and hers was a 1200.

Do we have any chance of making it together??
Thanks for all of your help.

I think you have a very good chance

im not sure what are you chances.. it seems that most likely you would get in..
one of my friend who transferred from a community college in California has a GPA of 3.58 no EC, with around 45 units and got accepted to marshall for accounting...
that is around 2 semesters ago..

You definitely have the will and good, legitimate reasons for wanting to transfer. Follow through with it and express that effectively in your essays.

thanks for all of your help guys. I hope it works out

good chance for you, idont knwo about your girl. dont worry about SATs, they dont really matter for transfer students. nore does where you come from, i think.

annenberg likes its transfer students to have some kind of meaningfull experience in communications, make sure you mention all and any ec's.
