I am currently a freshman at the University of Colorado at Boulder and am curious as to what you guys think my chances would be at being admitted as a transfer student to the University of Texas at Austin.

My stats are as follows:
High school GPA uw: 3.4
ACT composite: 26

Anticipated college GPA: 3.8-4.0
Majors: psychology and philosophy
EC's: mock trial team; job at bookstore

Also, should I retake the ACT? I only took it once and received the score mentioned above, a score which definitely does not reflect my full potential as I only put forth a very minimal amount of effort to prepare. I think if I were to actually put forth a significant amount of effort I could score a 30 or 31.

Well, actually, I am a Texas resident and have been one for 15 years. I came out here to Colorado because I really wanted to be out on my own, yet I've found that I'd rather be somewhere closer to my family.

If you are resident and therefore are considered in state, you stand a pretty good chance at getting in with your stats--very good if you make your anticipated college GPA. Make sure that you've completed your major requirements though as they tend to be picky about that.

Have you considered Plan II? If they open up transfer apps and that program appeals to you, you could always apply to it. The benefit is that they look at everything--high school transcript, sat, etc. I'm not sure that would actually help you, but I'd recommend that you look into Plan II.
