Okay so I currently attend Villanova. Towards the end of first semester I decided to send out a transfer app to UVA, just to see if I got in....Its was the only one I applied and I somehow got in. My second semester at nova was nothing special, although the social scene did pick up on campus.

My question is do I stay at this point or go. I got a 3.7 at NOva this year so am well established and am already at the bus. school. I would have to apply to UVAs this year and there is a chance I don't get in. Is the switch still worth it? Intent to get into banking/high level finance and as I understand UVAs recruiting is much better, however everything I have is invested in nova and I have a lot of good friends there, any thoughts? IS UVA econ better than nova finance? how much better is Mcintire than nova? I'm also in state and would be saving 90 grand over the next three years as I have no scholarship/aid at nova.

Its a really tough decision, but coming from people that know both or either reputation career wise, academics wise, social wise...what do you think?

I don’t think the investment you have put into Nova, both socially and financially is worth moving up the rankings. Especially when you are talking about 90 thousand dollars!

Besides you can always do your graduate work at UVA or any other school.

Saving $90,000 is a no-brainer.

Essentially I would be saving 30 grand a year by transferring to UVA, which is huge, but starting over will be tough as well as leaving my friends.

are you kidding me? these two schools aren’t even in the same level. not even mention the money. I do know mcintire was #1 undergrad business school 2 years ago

Hey,
Coming from a current student at UVA, let me give you the McIntire stats:
Average GPA of those accepted to McIntire: 3.7
Average GPA of those deferred: 3.5 (90 to 95 will be accepted in june out of 144)

Almost everyone I know who got rejected had a 3.3 or lower.

Unless you are fairly certain of keeping your GPA up next year (which is difficult if you still have precomm classes to take such as accounting or statistics) I would say not to risk transferring, especially if there’s that much money at stake. Econ is really well regarded at UVA though so if you’re fine with studying that instead then I guess it’s ok!

Save the money and go to the better school.
