Hi, I'm a sophomore at American University. I'd like to know what my chances are of transferring to UVA for political science.

GPA freshman year 1st semester: 2.88
second semseter: 3.73

SAT: 1290/1600 670 math 620 reading

4 APs in high school (American (5) and European History (4), Biology(4) and Environmental Science(4))

What GPA would I need both semesters this year in order to be admitted?

Thanks in advance

There’s no “magic GPA”, especially for transfers. I’m assuming you’re currently a second year, so the only semester left that they will see is this current (fall) semester. Honestly, your GPA overall is still low. The average GPA for transfers is ~3.5, so you’re hovering right under it right now. Your SATs won’t matter much, and your high school GPA will factor in some. I would say make sure you have a solid resume and solid essays and a recommendation if you can get it, to give your app a boost. Are you IS or OOS? (And go by your permanent residence, not that you’re at AU)
