I currently am a freshman at VT and want to transfer to UVA. I had ok stats in high school 3.6 gpa, 1210/1820 SAT and I have probably a 3.5 or so right now. I know that it is hard to transfer to Uva but do I have a shot, or would I have a better chance with another year of college under my belt? I am a poly sci major and am not sure if that is a tough major over there. I really hate VT and it wasn't the school that I thought it would be.

If you weren’t a competitive candidate for freshman admissions to UVA, then you would have a better chance with another year of college. If you apply to transfer as a soph, you will be assessed more heavily on your HS record and test scores; if you apply to transfer as a jr, your college record will be more important.
