I am about to be a freshman at the University of Washington in Seattle, and my dream school has always been Vandy. I applied EDI and got rejected. I am planning on re applying as a transfer, but I need to know if that is a real possibility.
High school GPA: (before senior year, it was a 3.83 unweighted) now it is a 4.0 UW because of a 4.2 my second semester senior year.
College GPA: (planning on getting a 3.7 or higher)
EC: lots of sports, volunteering, writing a book, non profit director, internships at hospitals, invisible children club, M.D. club, fashion for a cause.
ACT 26
positive grade trend
I am a white female, and not from the south.

What likely got you rejected was your ACT score (32-34 is the middle 50% at Vandy).

[Undergraduate Transfer Students | Prospective Students | Undergraduate Admissions | Vanderbilt University](Application Process: Transfer | Undergraduate Admissions | Vanderbilt University)

“Preference will be given to students who have been enrolled full-time in college-level coursework at institutions similar to Vanderbilt. Collegiate academic achievement is important in admissions decisions, and we also review indicators of academic success including the high school record, standardized test scores (required for transfer admission), letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities. We also consider the fit with the undergraduate school and the Vanderbilt major/program for which students have applied.”

They still look at your high school record and EC’s (a plus), but they still want to look at your ACT scores. You may want to re-take the test.

They accept transfer students (for the fall semester only). The priority deadline for transfer applications is March 15 and decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning in mid-April.

Students must have completed at least 12 semester hours of credit to be considered for transfer. So you may be able to transfer after your first semester at UW, but you should re-take that ACT test before hand.

Good Luck!
