I’m interested in transferring (1st choice is wellesley) but i’m just not really sure as to whether or not I could get in. I am currently a sophomore, looking to transfer for fall 2017.
My stats aren’t amazing by any means, but I have a reason for this, so hopefully that can help my situation (my cousin passed away in the beginning of spring semester of my freshman year, my boyfriend was diagnosed with cancer about a month after and died in september). Anyways, here are my stats, if anyone can give me some insight or advice it would be much appreciated!
High School - 3.43 GPA, ~1700 SAT, 6 AP’s (didn’t take the tests, though), president of a community service oriented club and gardening club lol, 100+ hours of community service, member of 2 other clubs, worked as a barista about 18 hours/week my senior year
Freshman Year - Syracuse University, Public Health Major
Course load - 6 courses each semester (5 3-credit classes, 1 1-credit class). 100/200 level courses in fall, 200/300 level courses in spring. Completed about 1/2 of liberal arts core for SU
GPA - 3.5 in fall, 3.25 in spring (3.375 cumulative)
EC - club sailing team member, member of a public health society on campus, 30+ hours of public health-related volunteer work in the spring
Awards - dean’s list for fall semester
Sophomore Year - community college, Art/Art History Major
Course load - fall: figure drawing, renaissance-contemporary art history, fundamentals of painting, beginning photography, comparative religions, ceramics; spring (expected): survey of modern art, another art history course, printmaking, english, color theory, probably some sort of online class as my community college has very limited courses lol
Expected GPA - 3.8-4.0
EC - have tried to become a member of numerous organizations on campus, but the people here are absolutely horrible at communication. I have applied for an internship at SF MoMA for spring 2017 so hopefully i’ll get that
I am applying to a few art schools for Illustration and then to UCLA, UCSB, Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, and Mt Holyoke for Art History, and was a Public Health major at SU (that’s why my coursework is a little all over the place haha). Thanks in advance!
