Hey guys, so I was admitted to Wharton as a transfer student and I'm deciding between transferring there or staying at UVA. I really like UVA and plan on going to the McIntire School of Commerce, but then again Wharton is Wharton and there's a lot of opportunity there. What do you guys think? Thanks!

I think you answered your own question when you said, Wharton is Wharton. They are both top school but I think Wharton is more prestigious. I would go to Wharton but its so much more expensive then UVA. I think that you would have more opportunities at Wharton. The top employers for Wharton are: Goldman Sachs Group, Lehman Bros., Citigroup. The top employers for McIntire are: Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte Touche Tomatsu ([Return on Investment: The Biggest Bang for the Smallest Buck - BusinessWeek](http://images.businessweek.com/ss/09/03/0303_undergrad_roi/index.htm)). Go to Wharton.

Although McIntire was ranked no.1 by Business Week, employers are still going to recognize Wharton more than McIntire at the end of the day.

I think it depends on whether you want to work in DC (UVA) or Philly/NY (Wharton) and also if you want to do grad school (…probably Wharton, though if UVA is a lot cheaper it might make more sense to save your money for your MBA) or not.

I’m just curious, but why did you apply to transfer to Wharton if you weren’t sure whether you wanted to go there? If you’re just having a few second thoughts, my advice would be that you just stick with your plan to transfer. But either way, you’re in a very good school that will almost definitely get you where you want to go. Good Luck!

Congrats wahoo17 on ur acceptance…I hope I will be able to do that too…btw what was ur GPA and are u 1st or 2nd yr?

just curious, why did you apply to transfer in the first place?

I applied for transfer because I wanted to go there out of high school and thought Wharton would open many more doors for me, and honestly I didn’t think I was going to get in as a transfer. Now that I actually got in I’m leaning towards the Wharton side because although I like UVA now, down the road I think Wharton will give me more options and need to decide soon. Also, I’m actually out of state, so going to Wharton would be a few thousand cheaper.

Do you guys feel that it would be better to be a little above average at Wharton or be at the top at UVA? I also heard that if I go to Wharton, chances are I don’t even need an MBA, is that true?

My mom went to Wharton and then got her MBA. Though maybe times have changed. I’ve got to doubt that, though.
