Hi, I'm transferring to a different college next year, and I was wondering if I HAVE to send them a transcript from the school i'm attending now?
I've only been here for a year, and I haven't done as well as I'd like to. For my major, I need a particular GPA and if I transfer these credits- I'm afraid it will make my GPA lower than it should be.

So, do I have to send my transcript from here? Or can I just apply and not report that I've gone to school here?
I'm open to any suggestions or comments
Thanks!

When you transfer colleges you're required to send them transcripts of any college work done. At least I know I had to. But hey, you've only been there a year. Could you wait another year and raise your GPA before transferring?

If you were to not send your transcript and report you'd never been there. 1. You wouldn't even be a transfer student, you'd have to apply as a freshmen since you'd have no college credits done. and more importantly, 2, you'd be lying on your application and if the school ever were to come to find out about that even 3 years down the line while you're attending that school you run the risk of being expelled and if it were before you enrolled, your admission would be revoked. You also wouldnt receive credit for any of the work you've done there which you would since you only need a C or better usually to receive credit and the graded work you've done wont have a grade on your next college's transcript. I'm sure you dont care about that though if you're considering jeopardizing your academic career for it.

so- the GPA from college 1 will always be seperate from college 2?? The credits will be transferred (if possible) but the 2 seperate colleges cannot influence each other's GPA? Let me know, thanks.

Yea all classes that you make a C or better in and transfer under that school's policy will just be listed on the transcript with no grade. If you apply to a graduate school or something then they will want your transcripts from all the colleges you attended so they'll see your grades then, but as far as your second school's gpa is concerned the grades are totally separate and wont be listed usually.
