Hi
I’m a college freshman trying to transfer undergrad. I didn’t tell my advisor about the plan yet. Maybe at spring I guess I need to tell the truth?
Moreover, I wonder if I have to ask my college to send transcripts to the schools I’m applying?
I don’t really know a lot about the transfer process yet.
Ps: I’m not applying to those top schools where they require rec letters and etc.
(Tbh this is a way too big school to get close with teachers so I don’t have good chance of getting great letters)
You will need to have transcripts sent. Contact the Transfer Admissions Office at each of the places on your list, and find out what they will require you to do.
If you don’t need letters of recommendation, then you don’t need to tell anyone at your current university that you are applying for transfer. Once you have been accepted and if you do decide to transfer, you should tell your advisor and make sure that all of your accounts are settled with the billing offices. You don’t want to find out that you owe tuition and fees at two different places.
I just don’t want to get disadvantages in current school because of the plan to transfer
That’s unlikely.
If you explain to your advisor why you wish to transfer in an adult conversation, more likely than not he/she will support your decision to do so. Regardless however, you will need to send your transcripts to almost any school you wish to transfer.
