I am going to apply to UMich, UNC, NYU, BC, UVA next fall. I am currently attending a community college, getting 3.85 GPA. No sat/act score, nothing outstanding EC ativities. I know most of the schools listed above are reaches to me. I feel I need more time to prepare for those schools. If the transfer result doesn't satisfy me, I will apply to them again in 2012. My concern is if I get rejected from all out them, should I stay 1 more year at my current community college or any other lower-ranked 4 year institutions? But if I transfer to any 4 year college to transfer to better school, it is tansferring twice. Which would be the best way to transfer?

Your best option is probably to stay at your CC and complete your full AA/AS degree. Make an appointment with the Transfer Counselor at your CC and talk with them about this. They will have good ideas for you.

I’m in a similar situation as well; I’d like to know, too.

I wouldn’t suggest transferring twice if you can help it. The transfer process is a lot of work and is disruptive educationally and socially.
