transfer ucf/usf

Hey, I've been out of the college search game for a while and now I'm planning to transfer cause my grades have been terrible at my current school (Ga tech). I'm planning on transferring as a lower level student(sophomore >59 credits) and I'm wondering what my chances of getting in are. If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it.

SAT: 1460/1600
H.S. g.p.a. : 3.5 (12 ap's)
GTech g.p.a.: 1.2
Community college g.p.a.: 3.14

Also, if anyone has any info that might help me out as far as applying as a transfer that would help me get in, I'd appreciate the info.

Are you originally from Florida? You can use the Bright Futures Scholarship for up to 3 years after high school. However, you may need to raise your cumulative gpa first. UCF takes a very high percent of in state students, so I am not sure about your chances if you are oos. However, your sat score is very good. I say call admissions and then go for it. I would like to ask, though, what happened at Ga Tech? This is the school my son wants to go to, so your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, yea, I am in state. As for as Georgia Tech goes, the work is difficult and its definitely not going to be as easy as some of the in state schools would be but its also not that bad as long as you put the time into it. I ended up having a lot of things happen this past semester that hindered me from really divesting time into my school work. My main reason for wanting to transfer is monetary seeing as I'm spending a pretty considerable amount of money at tech, and the fees at UCF would probably be about a fifth of the amount, and with bright futures it would be free. But yea, tech is a pretty nice school. It does not have nearly as much of a college feel as other schools since your in the middle of downtown Atlanta, but the campus is very nice and as long as your on campus its safe. Even off campus, I've never run into trouble. Anyways, your son should be fine at tech as long as he devotes the time to his schoolwork that is necessary.

In state meaning Florida obviously.

I'm sure i can answer that question, but i'll need some more information. what order did you go to the different colleges?
here is something you can do

if you went to the CC first and never sent a transcript from Gtech back to the community college you could just pretend like you never went there. you may lose some credits, but it is well worth it.
another plus would be moving to florida and completing your AA and one of our community colleges, then transferring. the benefit there is our articulation agreements with CC and Universities. If you graduate from valencia CC you are guaranteed acceptance to UCF. it is the same deal with hisburough and polk Community colleges for USF. If you complete your AA at one off those CCs you will not lose any of your credits in the transfer process. now this guaranteed admission is provided you meet the universities minimum requirements (which is not hard) so just a short recap

throw away your Gtech history if possible (meaning on application for ucf/usf don't provide information on Gtech (this will only work if none of your other CC transcripts show that you went to gtech))
Finish AA at florida community college if possible
Valencia(orlando)=UCF
Polk Community(polk county)=USF polytech
Hillburough CC(tampa)= USF
hopefully that helps i had a very similar issue. I got accepted to both using this method.
