Transfer Waitlist

Just received notification that I got Waitlisted for Oxy. Apparently 450 people applied for 50 available transfer spots. Does anyone know how large the waitlist is, or how many people generally get accepted off of it? Do they post that information?

It is also recommended that you send additional letters and achievements. Is anyone else doing that?

Sorta bummed about this :/

In all honesty, I wouldn’t fret. I understand your frustration given the work you put into your application but keep two things in mind:

They supposedly have very limited transfer spots(like you said).

Occidental from my personal experience and from speaking to alumni(they transfered) is not a “warm” environment. While it no where near enjoys the reputations that other colleges in the LA area does(won’t name drop, but I’m sure one can guess) it certainty had a very snobby feel to both the campus, but mostly the faculty. I know we all have personal preferences and a wait list is certainly nerve-racking I hope you got the descisions you wanted, or even better, found a college that welcomed you with open arms.

Not sure where you got your information that Oxy is not a “warm” environment and has a snobby feel. Really? Completely disagree with you. Have you been on campus, attended lectures and classes and met current students? My daughter just completed her freshman year and loves Oxy. She has made so many friends and has excelled academically. By the way, her sister is a recent May graduate of one of the other universitiies in L.A. that you did not want to “name drop”. Both of them have had great college experiences. Too bad you are so biased.

Wow really? Good for you that you creeped on my profile and found the other schools I didn’t want to “name drop” you are a mother yet talk to a young adult like that? That’s fantastic. Yes to all of your questions regarding Oxy and your pretentious, preachy “retort” affirms my beliefs. You can write scathing posts to a young adult on the Internet!!! Kudos!!!
