Hi CC,

I was recently waitlisted by one of the schools I applied to transfer to and was wondering about how it works, what the numbers look like, and how it compares to RD waitlists. I was waitlisted by the same school as a freshman applicant and was not admitted, and learned that in general, the chances for getting off the waitlist are very small. Is this the case for transfer students? What can I do to help my case?

You can send a letter of intent to the school (email) expressing that it is your top choice, why you really want to go there, and that if given an acceptance you will definitely enroll. This should help your chances. Keep it professional, mature, and concise; perhaps update them on some accomplishments too.

Generally wait lists vary by school so we can’t give you any real estimate of chances.

@moonman676 i was also waitlisted for a second time by a school. i agree with smrsmr that chances vary by school. i don’t think i have much of a shot at this point, but perhaps you have more reason to be hopeful. still kind of flattered to have been waitlisted though.
