Transfer @ Wellesley--Chance me?

I’d be applying for Spring 2018, I’d be coming in as a 2nd semester sophomore. My “why transfer” essay is about seeking a strong community (I went to an all girls high school and I emphasize that I already know how strong all women’s communities are) and more academic rigor. I very deeply want to go to Wellesley.

Is there serious grade inflation at your HS? A 4.0 UW GPA is only top 10%, and not top 2 or 3%

You have the academic chops with grades and a few AP’s, but your ACT is not overwhelming.

Wellesley does not take all that many transfer students, but you are as qualified as any of them.

Your grades show you are an excellent student - so you should be smart enough to figure out that your chances are way better than most applicants, even among transfers. You are also smart enough to know nothing is a given.

Best of luck to you

From the Wellesley website: Class of 2020 Mean Test Scores - 31 ACT – so looks like you are fine there.

Despite 3puppies concern about grade inflation at your high school, your AP results are very strong, which in my mind mitigates that concern.

Collegeboard shows a transfer acceptance rate of 18%

My daughter graduated from Wellesley, and we know of at least two students from her high school who transferred in while she was there.

Wellesley seems to like students from my daughter’s high school, so you should look at the history of your high school and Wellesley for some possible encouragement!
