TRANSFER: Which classes should I choose?

I'm a freshman and I'm looking to transfer to Columbia. I want to make sure I'm on track for SEAS and financial engineering. Here are the classes I've taken:

Writing and Composition 001
Art History
Political Science
Statistics for Business and Econ
Intro to Legal, Contracts & Civil Suits
Library (ha)

Here is my potential schedule for next semester, my last semester at my current university:

Writing and Composition 002 (to complete writing requirement)
Econ 001 (possibly Econ 2 as well)
Calc 61A (Basic calc)
Computer Science
Biology (or some other natural science)

Is it a good idea to take Econ 1 and 2 this semester, or is that overkill and unnecessary? Also, would it be smart to take a harder math class than basic calc even though the requirement is basic?

Any insight from current SEAS students would be amazing.

Thanks!
Max

I think this would be of interest to you: [2009 - 2010 SEAS Bulletin:Undergraduate Degree Tracks](http://engineering.columbia.edu/courses/bulletin/departments_academic_programs/ieor/degree_tracks/index.html)

If you can, take both micro and macro economics at your school. At Columbia, these are combined into one class. Say you only take micro, then you would either have to take macro at another uni in the summer, or take the micro/macro class and repeat some of what you’ve already learned. Instead of biology, I would take chemistry. Also, take the lab section of chem if you can. Take a look at the bulletin, and you’ll see a track of the courses you will need to take at Columbia. Try to get some of those out of the way at you current school. Computer science, calc, writing and comp look good. Art history may count for a non-tech elective, which is also good.
