We've looked at numerous CCs in the area and they also do not offer these courses. I understand the Communications Studies major is very competitive and highly selective at UCLA and that missing these courses might be extremely detrimental to her chances. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what she can do?

Technically, if the CC does not offer the class, it should not count against her. However, I can't imagine how a person who has taken the classes isn't a stronger applicant than a person who hasn't. My advice would be to ace the major prep classes that are available, then include it somewhere on the application that the following classes were not available at your CC or surrounding CCs.

What bfired said is true.....they cant hold it against you for classes your school doesnt offer.

However, because comm is so selective, if your girlfriend is missing a significant amount of classes it could affect her. If she's only missing one or two, she should be fine. However, more than that might be bad. But since there are only 7 or 8 pre-reqs anyways, and 5 of them are really general (government, psych, soc, speech) it should be ok.

I know people who got into comm without the basic mass and interpersonal comm classes, but they had a lot to catch up on when they got here.

Edit- I just looked at their assist page. Almost NO school I know of offers the anthro 33 class, so they generally assume that that one wont be complete. Like i said before, I know several kids who got in w/out the comm 10 requirement because it wasnt offered. As long as she does all of the other ones, and completes them with REALLY good grades, she should be fine.
