Transfer Woes

I am getting a bit worried about transferring (for Spring 2011) because I found out that my top two choices, Stony Brook University, and Binghamton, do not have transfers do the supplemental application. I will have an associates degree after this Fall (1 1/2 years at CC, got a lot of College credit in HS credit so I could get done earlier, 60 credits after the Fall) I did the ACTs but did not do the Writing part, but I'm taking it again on Sept. 11th. But, I hear that as a transfer they look at your college GPA, especially after receiving a two year degree going from a SUNY college and transferring to another SUNY school, I'm just wondering how exactly I can paint the admissions office a better picture of me personally, rather than just my GPA on paper (3.51). They just had me do the regular SUNY app and send them my transcripts. I will be submitting my ACTs that I will be taking (with writing) the same day of testing via the website if I think I did well enough, but I just am worried that the admissions will have a lack of information, when I think that if I could tell them about myself, I would have an even better chance.
