Transfer wondering about housing

Hopefully I'll be getting in to UF for the Fall 2010 semester and I'm wondering about the housing situation there.

Ideally I'd like to live on campus, but I have no concept at all about the housing situation. Unfortunately I got my [housing] application in late (last week or so), so do you think that I have a chance of getting a dorm or any other on-campus housing?

If not, is it much more expensive to live in apartments around campus and is there adequate transportation to and from the campus for someone who doesn't own a car?

I’m wondering the same thing. I sent my housing application about a month ago.

Also, how social are murphree and lakeside???

It depends on your definition of “around campus” but generally you can find off campus housing that’s nicer and costs less.

RTS, the bus system, is top notch. So long as you live on a campus route, it will not be difficult for you to get to campus at all.

Generally I think transfers already have a low chance of getting housing, so since you were late I think you may want to start looking at various apartments and see what you think.

So it’s not as if I’m garunteed, or even likely to get on-campus housing? Honestly I’d be greatful to live with 5 people and no air conditioning if it were on-campus.

If I do have to live off-campus, I’m wondering how late the buses run, and if it’s safe to take the buses at night?
