Ok guys, I didn't get in freshman year to NYU, and I've been wondering, I know that they have freshman orientation and "Welcome Week" and all that stuff during their freshman year, which a bunch of people I've spoken to that went to, and are currently in NYU, said was probably their best experience there, so I was wondering: Doesn't it kinda suck to go there as a transfer as oppposed to as a freshman? Don't get me wrong...I am DYING to go to NYU, and I am still very much hoping to attend sophomore year, but do they have similar activities, like "Welcome Week" and let's say your particular school (i.e. Steinhardt)'s orientation, for transfer students? I can't help but feel like we'll be a little bit left out. I dunno. I overanalyze things a bit too much. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

lol don't worry welcome week isnt that good

You get a free XXL t-shirt and eat some cold pasta salad while it's beginning to rain, that's about it. Oh, and there's balloons all over the place and all the clubs want you to join them. Yawn.

Oh Really? I always thought it was some big event thing. My main worry as a transfer is that like I won't make friends as easily as I would a freshman. Don't get me wrong I'm really outgoing, but my worry is that by the time I get there, everyone will have their little cliques, and I'll feel kinda left out. What do you guys think?

NYU is clicky. I lived off campus and it was a big mistake. Made no friends there, and the off-campus thing played a role in that. Tried to join a couple of clubs, but the only one where I stayed, it was mainly because they wanted a webmaster, nobody else could do it, and I had nothing better to do. The only normal people I met were in my Spanish class, but they're the only ones that I may have been friends with if I was on campus, not the majority. That's my experience. It's not the only/main reason why I dislike NYU though, but to each his own.

A good number of people who go to NYU have good money.... Well, since they can pay for NYU and all. And hearing/watching people talking about how it's difficult at this time of day to get a cab to go 5 blocks, to me anyway, is nauseating. Perhaps part of why I didn't fit in. The people I met in my Spanish class weren't rich snobs like that... Oh well, I met other people in the city, way cooler than that.
