Hi guys! Is it possible to transfer into either SAS or SEBS with a 3.2 GPA? I would appreciate any input.

Thanks guys!

How many credits will you have??

I would have about 49-52 credits completed from a NJ CC. 3.2 GPA would probably be the lowest and I would think that my actual GPA would be about 3.2-3.35. Do they also look at the grades from spring semester?

I think you have a good chance but your GPA is not the only thing they look at and here is the list from their website

"We place primary emphasis on each applicant’s academic promise as demonstrated by:
strength of academic program
grade trends
cumulative grade-point-average (GPA)
number of credits completed
English Proficiency Examination results, where required
We also consider such qualitative factors as:
community, volunteer, or U.S. military service
employment history
special talents

Transfer students are expected to have completed specific required entrance subjects; if necessary, previous college courses may be used to satisfy high school course requirements."

Not sure when you are planning to apply but the longer you wait, the tougher it gets . They fill up their class on a rolling basis, so the later in the application process you apply, the pickier they get.

If I apply now, will they look at my grades for this term? I have a 3.07 GPA now but I’m pretty sure that I’ll be able to bump it up to at least a 3.2.

Feb 1st is the deadline so I would try to apply at least a month before that date. They will not be able to look at your spring grades because it will be too late, but they will see this semester’s for sure.

Good luck!!

When you say apply, does it just the online application or everything (transcripts, etc)?

Hey if you could also help me out too…

Im a freshman in the business school at URI. They’ll only be able to see my first semester grades here, but my gpa should be around a 3.36-3.4. Im looking to transfer into SAS. I’ll have completed 16 credits this semester and 31 by the end of my spring semester. Do you think I’ll have a chance of getting in? I also came here to play football, it’s a D1 school, will that help me slightly also?

thanks

carltan, submit your application and all of your credentials by the deadline. In order for them to make a decision, they will need everything.

Jerseyboy, Even though you GPA is good, you don’t have enough credits so they night ask you for your high school record and maybe your SAT score. Call admission to find out.

@mytwosons, thank you for the replies! even so, i’m a bit scared because i’d only have 37 credits by this semester and i think that’s a bit low. I’m an international student btw, if that helps

Does my status as an international student, even if it’s only a little bit, help with admissions?

Anyone?!!!

It might help if you are going to pay the out of state price. Only guessing though.
