I am currently attending UF as a freshman, but I have been recently thinking of transferring to USF.
When I made my decision on schools last year, I almost decided to go to USF because I liked the environment (the people, campus, general atmosphere) better than UF. But UF's academics were ranked higher, especially in the field I am planning on going into.
USF offered me more scholarships, and a work study last year, but I was wondering if I still have a chance of getting scholarships? One of the reasons I am considering transferring is because money has been tight for me this year. I got a lot covered by financial aid, but I do not have financial support from my parents so I am feeling stressed about paying for school and housing for the next four years, and I want to go to grad school.
If USF isn't going to offer me scholarships again, I am not sure I would transfer, because I wouldn't be able to afford it.
I am really focused student, but I think I like a more laid-back, relaxed atmosphere, which Gainesville does not provide. There is a lot of attention on Greek life, and partying here and I am from a small beach-town, which I really miss.
I really feel like I would be happier at USF, but what are my chances of being accepted after going to UF for a year? And would I still be offered scholarships?

You’d be subject to these scholarships and not your offered scholarships. Those are not offered to transfer students. Only incoming freshman.

Okay, thanks. It says you have to be upper-level to get any of these, but I am still considered lower-level so I wouldn’t be eligible yet.

I too feel I should transfer to USF. All UF cares about is money or football

Agreed. Before I went to UF I thought people were just complaining because it was harder than they expected and weren’t getting the grades they wanted. I have A’s in all my classes and am not content with UF. The academics are alright, but I want somewhere where I feel like the school cares about students and wants me to not just get good grades, but be involved on and off campus and prepare me for the real world.

Yeah I’m getting good grades too but I feel UF doesn’t prepare you for the real world. Alot of students here focus so much on sororities or fraternities and partying that their grades suffer. If I had the chance I would transfer…none of my friends complained about USF

Yeah, I’m not a partier and I’ve found it hard to meet people and be as involved on campus as I would like because of how many people are so focused on partying and their social life instead of academics. I just really regret turning down the scholarships from USF to go to UF.

There should be transfer scholarships at USF. There are people who aren’t partiers but still everyone seems to have their own clique already.

Unfortunately, transfer scholarships are for upper-level transfers. However, once accepted each college (and clubs!) has their own scholarships which you can apply for. But even as a transfer student, transfer scholarships are dollars compared to the Benjamins they throw at incoming freshmen.
