I’m in college currently but I am doing horrible. I am failing mostly every class and adjusting to college has been hard.i don’t really like the college I’m at and I jam here bc of my dad. I was wondering if I dropped out before the semester ends would my grades be finalized and show up when I try to transfer to somewhere else? Will the college transcript show my grades if the courses haven’t been completed? Will I have to apply as a transfer student or can I just put new student? I need answers thanks!
Grades are submitted at the end of the term, but if you drop out without withdrawing, your professors won’t know that you’ve withdrawn and will give you an F for the term. You cannot transfer to another college if you don’t have the right amount of units or grades to another university.
Trying to start from scratch, as a new freshman, without being honest about your previous university can get you kicked out. There is a service that the universities use to find out if you’ve been honest in your applications.
See if you can formally withdraw from your current university and take some time to reflect on your next steps. Maybe you should consider a CC to start. Report all previous schooling.
Whatever you do, do not lie on any college applications!
Go to your school’s office and find out if you can withdraw from all of your classes and from the school. It sounds like you may be suffering from depression, so also make an appt with a healthcare professional. If you are, then that may help you get a medical withdrawal.
So even if I leave early and the grades don’t count but I explain a reason of leaving, I won’t be able to get into another university?
If you are able to withdraw formally before grades are recorded, then there will be no grades on your transcript. All that will appear will be the Ws indicating that you withdrew.
So yes, of course you can apply for admission later to a different university! But you do sound very sad, so get your own mental heath straightened out before you try going a different place. You want to be able to do your best once you get there.
And the earlier you withdraw, the larger percentage of your tuition can be refunded. The later you go, the less gets returned. That matters too
Thanks!! You guys helped out a lot!
Another question . So if the Ws appear the college will more than likely ask why I withdrew right? And Would I still say I’m a transfer if it won’t show up with grades? I’m kind of confused I just want to make sure I have all this understood And know what I need to do next. Thanks!
The college will tell you if you are a transfer or freshman applicant. Some say take any classes your are a transfer. For some you need to have a number of credits. The new college will ask you what happened. You’ll have to decide how to tell that story (acclimation problems, why you’ll be more successful at the new college…).
