I did not gain admission to Columbia this year? Is it extremely difficult to transfer (i'm going to emory university) assuming I keep above a 3.9 in college for freshman yr?

Yes, it is. By the way, I wouldn't go around assuming that you'll get a 3.9 at a reasonably top college like Emory.

It's difficult but it's different than high school. I'm not about to say easier since your circumstances might be different and CC isn't the same thing as SEAS, but anyways:

I didn't apply to Columbia my freshman year since I was pretty sure I'd get rejected. I had a 4.17/5 GPA, 1560 on the SAT, and next to no ECs. I did get rejected to almost all schools I applied to, though, including Cornell, Tufts, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, UChic, etc.

So I went to Boston College for this year and pulled a 3.71 fall semester. I decided that I didn't feel like doing pre-med and wanted to do engineering, which means I had to transfer. So I applied to a few schools, and I already got into UVA and SEAS at Columbia (half an hour ago, actually).

So yeah, it might be easier. Then again, I don't know how it's like with Columbia College. Don't give up hope, though. A good GPA can get you lots of places.

thanks for the info dames
