anyone know anything a/b transfering to carleton...is it hard, avg. applicant, etc.?

It's difficult, because Carleton accepts very few transfers each year. Probably on the order of half a dozen or so for each class.

i think they took 4 or so last year out of a pretty good sized pool...

Very tough. 7 for this coming year, all female. Three of them were admitted off the waitlist.

Hi! I'm one of them! That's weird- all female. No wonder they told me that they weren't accepting transfers and then accepted my app late. So, who else has more dirt on us?

Dude, there not all female....

why do I know this you ask? Because I am a guy, and I have just recently been accepted from the waitlist.

HOLLER

mdurkes: Congratulations! At the time I responded there were only female transfers. I assume you'll be attending, even with the late notice.

Transferring to Carleton is tough, but not impossible -I was accepted as a transfer there a year ago, and I applied again as a transfer and was rejected (darn, so congrats to those of you who took my spot). Carleton, and most schools of it's caliber and size like to see applicants with GPA between 3.5-4.0. 3.6+ is better. It's probably good if your SAT is at least their mean, especially if you're a sophomore transfer. And you need to distinguish yourself, just like freshmen apps -thoughtful essays, good out-of-class participation, show why you really want Carl...

thanks for all the help
