transfer

Is it true that you can easily transfer in after two years at Stonehill?

I don't know that the world easily fits. If you do well you can transfer, but transferring is getting more and more selective every year. The acceptance rate for transfers is now down to 35% and you absolutely have to take the proper classes to be part of that 35%. It can be done, but I would definitely not say easily. http://www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer

And if you are applying to Arts and Letters for transfer, it's down to 25% now. I just transferred and they told us at the information session.

That is nuts! I am glad I am already at ND :).

Wow.. that's pretty low.

The thing to consider is that the transfer applicant pool is not as strong as the one for freshman admission. Nonetheless, it is becoming more and more difficult to transfer in.

I wouldn't say it isn't as strong, admissions just values things differently. You don't have to have as high of a GPA, but you need the right classes (which in some cases can be difficult classes). Yes, we may not have the average transfer GPA of 3.8-4.0 like some schools have, but you also can't get away with taking weak courses.

ND freak don't short change yourself there where alot of waitlisted/rejected transfers that for what ever reason did not get the call the first time. Lots 1st in the class and Val/Sal that did'nt get the big envelope originally that made the cut in transfer this year,as indicated previously 1 out of five for A/L this year not real good easy odds......Thanks to the transfer option theres alot of good qualified kids that finally have their dream answered. enjoy you deserve it.

Of you dont make it in to ND....wuts the best college to go to,,,,if you want to transfer in quickly???

any 4-year college will work really, though personally I think that coming from a Catholic school can't hurt. www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer. Don't worry about that yet, you still have plenty of time and have a shot at getting in the first time. Don't even think about transfer yet!

hahaha I know...i'm just pessimistic cuz of my low sats........... irish wut do u think about usd?.... and also is it true that you cant transfer into the business school??/
thnsk

I like USD and it is true that you can't transfer into the business school but there is a back option, but that is for another day.

ahahhahah ok

Don't even mention the business school until you are accepted and here for at least a semester. They practically said, "If you want to transfer into Mendoza, leave ND now, we'll make it hell for you to do so." And this was in front of everyone at the Arts and Letters information session.

That is just because they are really trying to discourage it. At mine they went into how you stole someone's spot if you want to go into business. The fact of the matter is, however, that after a year it is your right as a ND student to go into the college of your choice.

I don't understand., why do they discourage it so

Long story short...because the business school is beyond capacity. I personally think it is ironic...they refuse to add capacity to the business school because Ivy type schools look down on that as business is not considered as "academic." However, isn't it business that tells you that when demand outpaces supply you should increase capacity? I don't know, I think it is rediculous, but I am biased as a transfer. Because of that fact I have been known to help people get into the business school, so it still can happen, but they don't like it.

ohhh I see... thats interesting
