Hi, I am a native Rhode Islander and I am studying Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. I am interested in transferring to Brown due to a variety of mental health reasons. I was wondering if anybody knew if having a history of mental health problems (depression) will be detrimental to my application? Also, does Brown accept transfer students for the spring semester (spring 2007) or only for the fall semester (fall 2007)? Thanks

it shouldn't be

A history of mental health problems shouldn't be a detriment to your application, but if it looks like you're just applying to Brown because it's close to home (not for anything particular to the school itself) then this will certainly hurt your application.

Brown only accepts transfers for the Fall semester.

Is college GPA the most important factor for a junior transfer? Also, how much should you talk about the school you are leaving? Would it be OK not to talk about it at all?

College gpa is generally the most important factor. You should talk about your old school. It's important to say why the new school is better for you than your old school. You don't have to blatantaly bash it, but say this new school has opportunites that x old school didn't have and here's why that's important.
