i haven't officially received my decision yet so i haven't lost all hope but i'm not expecting good news. i believe uva is the perfect school for me on a number of different levels so i've been looking into transferring in the future.

anyway, here are my questions.....
1) would it be more competative to transfer from BU, wake forest, PC, or umass (honors program)?
2) would it hurt my chances coming from the umass honors college as opposed to a more competative school? (this would make the most financial sense by about $20,000-$30,000 so it's an option but i'd like my application to have the best chance possible)
3) socially, would it be problem transferring for the spring semester? or should i just wait a year and transfer as a sophomore?

i realize i have some great options already and who knows, maybe i'll enjoy where i end up in september more than i'm expecting and this could become a non-issue. i really feel like i'd excel in many different areas at uva, however, so i'm trying to find the best way to make that a reality. any input is appreciated, thanks.

Choose a college that you could enjoy for 4-years. There's no guarentee that you'll be able to transfer, and you will be MISERABLE if you don't like where you are. Go where you want intially. All of those schools are great, so find which one suits you and your needs best.

no...all of those schools are good schools, and that's all that matters

You can't transfer until you've completed a year. (24 credits, so if you've taken duel-enrollment courses, you could maybe do it in the spring). So yes, you would most likely have to wait until sophmore year, which would be better socially.

Best advice I can give you: don't go somewhere expecting to transfer somewhere else. Go to a college that you would be happy with for 4-years. You may end up totally loving it and laughing at the thought that you once considered transferring. But if you enter college knowing you want to transfer, its going to make your first year miserable. You're not going to want to go out and socialize and get to know your college, and you'll miss out on the first year experience. So, go somewhere you like/love. Enjoy it. And stop considering the possibility of transferring until atleast winter break. :)
