Transfer!!

Yay I just found out I got in yesturday as a transfer!! When I called them, they said they don't send out notifications until after May 1st. But I got it yesturday! but yay! anyone else planning on transfering? My stats weren't that great but here they are SAT: 1230 College GPA: 3.2 (only 16 criedts worth) High School: 90.2

Christine

Im a Freshman Engineering student at Virginia Tech. I applied for transfer for the 2005 Fall semester. I had a 1120 SAT and a 3.81 GPA in high school. Last semester I received a 3.44 GPA. Im from instate and got in when I applied in high school for the spring semester. When did you send in your application? Do you think that I have a decent shot in getting in as a transfer?

Actually I sent my application in a month ago. I was really surprised that I heard so soon. You have a better GPA than I do. And I thought having a 3.2 was going to kill me. I guess the moral of the story is you never know. But I think you have a good shot. I also applied to VT as a transfer. Good Luck, is Maryland your top choice?

Well I only applied to UNC-Chapel Hill and UMD-College Park....out of these two amazing schools, I would definitely choose UNC-Chapel Hill. However, I REALLY dont think that I will be accepted to UNC...I will be really happy with UMD-College Park because of their well known business program. I attend Virginia Tech currently...and am very impressed with the school--its top areas of study are few and concentrated but are AMAZING....Engineering, Architecture, Biology, Chemistry and Vetinary Studies are among the top programs in this school...If you are considering studying liberal arts, I suggest that you not come to VT...The environment/campus life, academics..everything, VT has it all and you WILL NOT be let down.

Got into UMCP as a transfer student...~3.3 GPA with 47 credit hours from a MD community college.

Do you think that it seriously hurts my chances that am applying when I only have 1 semester under my belt and am currently in my second semester?

I don't think so...tons of people apply for soph. transfer. That's what I am

Where are you from again?...and which school are you attending currently?

I'm from NY. In the fall I attended George Washington University, now I'm home. Attending a community college.

Wow, how did you find out so early? The early action due date wasn't even until yesterday and you knew almost two days before the deadline?

Well, your stats make me feel pretty good about my chances, my college GPA is 3.21, my hs gpa did suck, like a 3.3, but my sats were a 1310, so I think that about balances it statwise. Plus I'm in state and attending a University of Maryland system school right now. Also applying with only a semester, only 14 credits + the 15 Ap credits here thatll turn into 7 at college park.

haha I know...I called the admission office and they said they start sending out letters on May 15th. So I was shocked to see it in my mailbox. So I'd keep your eye on your mailbox!

I convinently waited til feb 28 to apply to Tech and UMD as a transfer from indiana, anyone have an idea when i'll hear back? Also, VTengineer why are you applying to transfer out of Tech? I got to decide which of the 2 schools is best for me.

What are you thinking about majoring in?

im doing business now but im pretty sure ill switch it to architecture/urban planning, something like that.

From what I know of Tech...we have an EXTREMELY good architecture program....Recently on the Tech homepage, the Architecture program was featured--being ranked 10th overall among all undergrad programs in the country. UMD seems to have a stronger undergraduate and graduate business school...however, I have read that Pamplin--Virginia Tech is up and coming--and offers students with many opportunities especially in the Raleigh-Durham area.

The article is actually on the VT homepage now...you should check it out...its on the main page.
